CORPORATE SPONSORS: STEP. RIGHT. UP.
Since I’ve been running endurance races for charity I’ve raised a large amount of money from incredibly generous individuals. But this time around (training for the one and only NYC Marathon on 11/6/11) I want to find a company that believes in supporting my efforts*, and more importantly supporting two organizations that are really and truly deserving or our support together: the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society working to cure cancer, and CampInteractive working to get inner-city youth back into nature and forward into technology.
So this is me shouting: IS YOUR COMPANY THE ONE!?!?
My ultimate goal: A corporate sponsor that can buck up $6000.
But I’m more than happy to break it up, too!
What do you get from me for donating a large chunk of change to two incredibly deserving and in-need charities other than an absolute fan for life??!?
- Every mention of my training, be it on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, RunKeeper, Nike+, Tumblr, LinkedIn, my TNT and CI fundraising pages, and more, will end with the #hashtag of your company’s liking.
- I’ll also run through 5 boroughs with your logo on me.
Please get in touch and I’ll explain why these two charities mean so much to me, and why you should support them too! michelle.deforest at gmail
*This isn’t to say that I don’t want your individual donations too, because I really, really, really do! Please donate here: http://www.mdfsmash.com/post/7543077104/runmdfrun
What’s better?
Friends, I need your opinion. This is both a brainstorm, and (ahem) a shameless plug for my fundraising efforts for the NYC Marathon for both CampInteractive and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Options for fundraisers: what’s more FUN?
1. Me bar-tending for charity tips (I LOL at the thought of this, but could be very fun)
2. Tickets to a Meatball Wednesday (would be at least $40-$50 a ticket - includes my famous meatballs and beer/wine)
3. Selling something I make (I have no idea what this could be, but I have a square and really want to use it).
Anyone have ideas? Or what sounds more appealing???
And very special thanks to @rocketboom!
Very special thanks to @postling!
Very special thanks to @textplus!
Now it’s time for me to thank my sponors. I couldn’t have raised the money without you all. Your support got me here!

The Swim
Just ran into a TEAMmate @ Jack Rabbit and he told me this is a swim I’ll be “proud” of. Which roughly translates to: it’s going to kick my ass. Well bring it on Tampa Bay!!!
Triathlon Training: Week 6 of 17
So I’ve been slacking. Really it wasn’t my fault, it was the crazy holiday schedule, I swear! But the coaches knew this would happen so that’s why we started a little early. But now it’s time to kick things in gear. Here’s my workout schedule this week:
Monday: Lift legs and core (a.m.)
Tuesday: Lift arms (a.m.), TEAM swim practice (p.m.)
Wednesday: Core (a.m.), TEAM running practice (p.m.)
Thursday: Lift arms (a.m.), BRICK (:40 bike/ :10 run) (p.m.)
Friday: Lift legs (a.m.), Swim (p.m.)
Saturday: Spin class with the TEAM and Core (a.m.)
Sunday: Run :30 - :50, Lift arms (a.m.)
It’s going to be a tough week! But hopefully with enough sleep and eating right I can pull it off.
Why am I abusing myself? It’s to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I would appreciate your support. I’m even selling miles! You can donate here: http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/anttry10/mdeforest
BUY A MILE FOR CHARITY!
Reposting w/ miles bought so far!
I know it seems like yesterday, but it wasn’t! And the time has come for me to start training for my second triathlon and fundraising for my third event with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. Over the last 18 months I’ve raised $8500 in the hopes that we can find a cure for cancer. Please help me continue my mission by signing up to BUY A MILE! You guys know the drill: $25 a mile buys you a link to where ever you want and I’ll plaster it every where I can.
