FREAK OF NATURE
Jimmy Graham is on pace for 90 catches, 1,400 yards and 10 touchdowns in only his third full season of high level football, but is that enough for him to be football’s NEXT? Vote now!

So Jimmy(!) Graham is currently losing to Cam Newton for this arbitrary title of NEXT.
This does not sit well with us. So, Who Dat Nation, make us proud. Go vote and after you vote you can read on of our favorite pieces of the year.

GO VOTE! Jimmy Graham is THE MAN!!

Saints Bingo returns. Now with more alcohol.

saints11:

Saints Bingo is back, new and improved, now featuring a handy drinking guide for our Sunday Night Football shenanigans against the Colts. Either print the image above, or click here and download the chart in HTML, Excel, or PDF.

We should add: Saints11 doesn’t endorse alcohol abuse, and we don’t recommend drinking five shots of like Everclear all at once. Be responsible. Have fun. And please God don’t let us have to use the Panic Square.

Oh Lord I love this. And I think Brian will appreciate the Ingram square :)

A few months back I got a call from the lady who’s the head of casting for Treme. She explained that the show was going to shoot a scene in season 2 at a fictional Bar None — my beloved Saints bar in New York I’ve mentioned here numerous times (and written about by the NY Times here and here, the Times Picayune here, and me for Yahoo here), the den of imbibery where some of the happiest moments of my life have taken place — and that the show’s producers wanted to invite me and the other members of the original crew, Bar None’s founding fathers if you will, to be in the scene as extras. Unfortunately, I wasn’t available on the day they shot the scene with a bar in the French Quarter doubling as Bar None, but a couple of the others were able to make it. (Besides, on the day this game between the Saints and the Giants was played, December 24, 2006, I was at the game in Giants Stadium and not at the bar, so it wouldn’t have been historically accurate for me to be there.)
Anyway, that’s my buddy Zach in the background of the shot above during the conversation between Delmond and Woodrow/Prezbo from The Wire, who was a Giants fan in this scene. Zach was the guy who started it all there, the first Saints fan to walk in that bar and ask them to dedicate a single TV to the Saints games each week, and it just grew from there.

Woodrow: You people colonize this bar? It’s like the Louisiana Purchase in reverse.
Delmond: Black and gold, baby.
Woodrow: Is this always a New Orleans bar or just Sundays in football season?
Delmond: 24/7, 365. Like New Orleans in exile.
Woodrow: But they’re playing the Giants. IN NEW YORK. It should be illegal.

That’s actually not factually correct — the show’s writers took some creative license here — as Bar None is actually an NYU bar on every day of the week except Sunday. Regardless, I thought that it was really cool that they tracked us down and reached out and offered us a chance to be in the scene. Really freaking cool.

no. way. this makes me so happy. still catching up on the 1st season and loving every minute of it!
