Big announcement: I (Rebecca) will be writing a Working Class Foodies cookbook for Gotham Books, a division of Penguin. I can’t tell you how excited I am for this opportunity and I can’t thank all of you - you viewers, bloggers, Facebook friends, rebloggers, and home cooks just like me - for your support over the past 20 months. This truly wouldn’t have happened without the enthusiasm of each and every one of you.
There’ll be a lot more info to come as things progress, so stay tuned and stay hungry.

AWESOME NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO. MANY. CONGRATS! And SOOOOO well deserved!!!!!!!

Tumbling Thru: Google Acquires Next New Networks

emilgh:

Just in time, too. The company did 2,000,000,000.00 views last month, in the shortest month of the year. That’s 2 BILLION in February of 2011. It’s also been EBITDA positive for the past 6 months…

But how did it all begin?

“Holy shit! People are actually watching video podcasts! Our video…

Here comes YouTube Next.

nextnewblog:

Today, we’re very excited to share the news that Next New Networks is now part of YouTube. Our company will become a core component of YouTube Next, a new team that will focus on supercharging content creator development on YouTube, driving deeper expertise in partner audience development, and incubating new ideas that can be shared with the broader community.

Since we launched in March 2007, we’ve had the goal of building an effective platform for developing, packaging and building audiences for original web video programming. To date, that programming has been viewed over 2 billion times and built a following of more than 6 million subscribers. A big part of that growth has been the more than 60 independent producers who have partnered with us as part of the Next New Creators program, including popular YouTube partners such as The Gregory Brothers, Hot for Words, and Nalts, in addition to the ongoing growth of networks like Barely Political (home of Obama Girl and “The Key of Awesome”), Indy Mogul, ThreadBanger, and Fast Lane Daily.

While our team will continue to work out of our offices here in New York as the YouTube Next Lab and Audience Development Group, I’ll be stepping down from a rewarding stint as the company’s CEO and continue producing cartoons from my company, Frederator Studios. Our popular cartoon network, Channel Frederator, will continue its partnership with YouTube, and I’m looking forward to a close and fruitful relationship with the company personally and professionally. Our current chairman, Lance Podell, will also be joining the YouTube Next team as global head for the group.

Everyone here is very excited to work even more closely with the YouTube team, and looking forward to expanding our mission to provide guidance and support in creative, production, and audience development to all aspiring and current YouTube partners.

Thank you, everyone. It’s been a great beginning.

– Fred Seibert, CEO and Co-Founder, recently watched “Moustaches,” by mrweebl.

So excited and happy!! (And happy the cat is out of the bag!!) Congrats to NNN and the staff (past and present) that helped build such a great company, and a giant THANK YOU to the creators that believed in us and signed up to the NNC. While I’m not there anymore, it feels that way, and that in and of itself is part of the magic that the company has fostered. It’s a community of people that just want to help everyone get better, help take a person’s work to the next level, and do everything in their power to help a person shape the passion that lies within.

It’s a win for NYC tech, for web-original content, for content producers, for my friends and former co-workers, and for my mentors. I’m so proud of everyone, and can’t wait to see what comes out of YouTube Next!

HEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ONE launches today on AOL.

moth:

Today, we launched The ONE, a new daily series on AOL’s homepage, as part of the innovative new relaunch of AOL.com.  It’s the first show in a while I’ve personally co-created (with my good friend and colleague Kathleen Grace), so I’m especially excited to give you all the first look.

With The ONE being presented on AOL’s homepage to their audience of 15 million unique U.S. visitors daily, this may be the biggest placement for a daily news series to date, and all of us at Next New Networks are honored to be the first company to launch an original series like this with AOL.

The ONE is all about cutting through the thousands of stories presented to you daily — on the web, on TV, in your friends’ Facebook and Twitter feeds — and giving you a great perspective on the one story that really matters. Today, November 8, we’re talking about the Conan launch on TBS, and brought on comedian and author Baratunde Thurston, digital director for The Onion — to talk about it. The series is directed and produced by Kathleen Grace, our head of production and creator of hit web series The Burg and The All-for-Nots, who co-created it with me.

New episodes will be live on AOL.com at 1pm daily, Monday through Friday, and feature a roster of great contributors from around the web. As part of Next New Networks’ partnership with AOL, we’re also distributing some of our most popular series on the site, from two of the biggest hits on the web, “The Key of Awesome” and “Auto-Tune the News,” which was featured on AOL’s homepage Friday, to Hungry Nation series like “Working Class Foodies” and Indy Mogul series like “Backyard FX” and “Beyond the Trailer.” We’re excited to get this in front of AOL’s massive audience, and to have our content available to many of their complementary destinations like Autoblog, Popeater, Stylelist, Engadget, and TechCrunch.

More info about the series is in our full press release with AOL. We hope you’ll check out the show, and stay tuned for more good things to come.

Lots of awesome in this post!! Congrats @nextnew team!!!

Meme Remix of the Day: Paramore’s Hayley Williams, New Found Glory’s Jordan Pundik, and Relient K’s Ethan Luck cover the Greogory Brothers’ Billboard-approved “Bed Intruder Song.”

[thanks dustin!]

I might have just sent out a company email in ALL CAPS about this cover. Absolutely EPIC.
