Happy that Fitbit introduced badges!
Oh HEY fitness, there you are
Running is such a downer for the first 3-4 weeks of training. And then one day, your body gets with the program, and a 3 mile run feels like a walk. I finally hit that last night. Up until then it was a struggle, huffing and puffing, and feeling like a dead weight.
And now, aaaaah.
Next phase: training to train. The next 4 weeks will help to correct my form to become a more efficient runner, and get my body used to storing carbs for long runs. I’m looking forward to it. And soon, 6 miles will feel like 3 miles.
Brian’s encouraged me to start boxing. I’ve always wanted a bad ass set of guns ;) and I love to kick some ass, so this is right up my alley :D
Anyone want to go once a week with me?
UPDATE: Aaaand I bought 10 :)

Ahem, running and such. Right.
If you’ve stuck around here long enough you know that I am all about fitness, but I haven’t really blogged about it much recently. For one I got hurt training for the NYC marathon. It was such a bummer, but I guess at the same time I needed a little break from all of the endurance training. And my body was trying to make that clear. So, I didn’t work out for a week here, a week there, and decided to enjoy just working out whenever I felt like it with out any particular goal in mind.
So, it’s been roughly 2 months since I’ve officially trained for anything and of course, like clockwork, I am feeling the MUST TRAIN FOR SOMETHING itch creeping up. But, no. I’ve picked my event for the year, actually running the NYC Marathon for Camp Interactive without IT problems, and I’m determined to just learn how to work out because I should work out. Because it makes me feel good.
However, what kind of type A girl would I be if I didn’t have a goal ;) So as of right now I still have 11 lbs to lose. It was 16, but I’m down 5. And I hate even blogging about my weight, but I suppose this is supposed to keep me accountable. Which brings me to a cute little purchase I made last week: A WiThings scale. HELLO AMAZING NERD PRODUCT. I can finally evaluate if I’m losing/gaining unhealthy and ideally gaining healthy weight. And when I need some positive reinforcement it’s right there on my phone/iPad/computer. So far my BMI is still creeping down, as is the % fat, but I must be careful to maintain and even increase my lean mass. And with that, I will pledge, on this very tumblog, that I will work out tomorrow morning.
Free Fitness!
Shape Up NYC offers free fitness classes every week (and there are way more in the Summer).

I haven’t weighed myself in at least 3 years. I finally ordered the Withings Scale because:
…
- I want to know what I weigh
- It’s stunningly beautiful and something I want to have in my home
- I want to see if passive data leads to knowledge and ultimately encourages me to change my behavior for the better
I want this so bad. It will be mine by the end of the month. IT HAS TO BE.

Your peak physical fitness is at age 27, but your endurance is the same at age 17 as it is at age 65.
Has anyone used the iPod Nano Pedometer feature?
Is is any good? I love Fitbit, but mine just died again. That makes TWICE that the fitbit has bit the dust. No pun intended. I think.
So, while they are very nice at shipping a new one and paying for me to ship the broken on back, I don’t really want to go through a third.
Phoebe suggested Nike+, but I don’t really need it for my workouts (though I do love when the little flower grows after I run), since I have a garmin heartrate monitor/pedometer. What I like is having a way to gauge my daily activity since I tend to not be super active other then when I’m getting in marathon/triathlon training workouts in.
Phoebe says the pedometer on the Nano is great, but I’m curious, how hard is it to keep on you all the time? I liked that I could clip the Fitbit to my bra and no one could see it. Anyone have an option on the Nano pedometer or something else similar?
