And help me reach my fundraising goal for Camp Interactive!
Your donation goes towards a program that teaches at-risk youth to live a healthier life, learn to code, and aspire to great things! $10, $20, $30, or any amount helps them (get a leg up) and me (mentally since I’ve got a case of the marathon nerves like whoa).
I’ve heard one thing over and over from these kids, and it’s that this program changes their life. Your donation can help change more lives! Click here to support them, as well as myself when I hoof it through the five boroughs on Sunday!
Reposting w/ Updates - MARATHON IMMINENT!
The short: I’m running my first NYC marathon on November 6, 2011 to raise money for two great charities!

TL;DR:
I’m training for and running the NYC Marathon this November for two very special charities near and dear to my heart: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society andCampInteractive.

Previous Training Update: I completed a 7 mile long run this past Sunday. It was hot (and I was a little slow :), but it was definitely a good run. Next long run goal is 8 miles!
What’s better?
Friends, I need your opinion. This is both a brainstorm, and (ahem) a shameless plug for my fundraising efforts for the NYC Marathon for both CampInteractive and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Options for fundraisers: what’s more FUN?
1. Me bar-tending for charity tips (I LOL at the thought of this, but could be very fun)
2. Tickets to a Meatball Wednesday (would be at least $40-$50 a ticket - includes my famous meatballs and beer/wine)
3. Selling something I make (I have no idea what this could be, but I have a square and really want to use it).
Anyone have ideas? Or what sounds more appealing???

Check it - I’m running the NYC Marathon (FOR REALS THIS TIME, WITH NO INJURIES), in support of two outstanding charities:

As always, and with everything I pour myself into, meeting my goals is not possible without the support (moral, financial, and otherwise) of all the amazing people in my life, be it friends, family, fellow tumblrs, co-workers, and kind strangers on the Internet.
So, my plea for your support this time around: PLEASE help me reach my goal of raising $6,250 for these deserving charities ($5K for CI, 1,250 for LLS).
Donating is easy. Click one of these links!
Suggested donation: $29 for my 29th birthday on August 30.

If donating to PayPal or Venmo, I’ll split the donation between the two charities unless you request otherwise. Once I hit one of the goals, I’ll send the donation to the one I haven’t met yet. Once both goals have been met (and if they generosity continues!) I’ll begin splitting the donations again. (Plz note I won’t be able to issue you a specific tax-deductible receipt if you don’t through PayPal or Venmo, but I will eat the costs of the transactions.
Thanks again for your continued support! <3 you all!!

BIRTHDAY WISH! Plz pay attenshun:
I have a birthday wish: It is for you to lend your support and latte/app store dollars as I train for the New York City marathon. I’m scared out of my mind (the “oh shit” moment at the starting line never seems to ease up), but I can do this. I can do this especially because I relied on after school care when I was younger, and that is what Camp Interactive is working on starting.
Right now Camp Interactive offers weekend and summer trips to inner city youth in the Bronx and East Harlem and it gets kids outside (healthy for all), engaged in activities (bye bye obesity), and (wait for it…) CODING! (I don’t even know how to code!)
Many schools have had to cut back on athletic programs, and a lot of parents rely on after school care, so if you help me help the kids, Camp Interactive will get to launch TEAM ACTIVE, which will be an after school RUNNING program, and the kids then learn how to run AND code, and then they build websites and blog about their running experiences, which will in turn get MORE KIDS doing the same! EVERY ONE WINS!
So, please make my (birth) day (technically next Monday), and support my efforts to support Camp Interactive.
*reblogs are also a fine form of donation/support :)
P.S. I’m also doing that fun thing where I sell miles and my body for your personal/company placement. AND I’m looking for corporate sponsors. More on that coming soon.
