Triathlon anyone?
I’m thisclose to signing up for the Nation’s Tri, and training for my first triathlon, which would take place on September 13, 2009 in D.C., with Team In Training.
Does anyone want to join me? I can tell you that you don’t have to be a super athlete, but have to be willing to commit whole-heartedly to training - something that is both fulfilling and liberating.
Last year I trained and completed my first marathon while in the Team In Training program, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. While they train you with professional coaches, you raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And let me tell you, watching someone who just completed chemo kicking your ass in running really makes you reevaluate how “hard” you think something is.
The best part about training was taking something that seemed so impossible, going into it for the long haul, working my ass off, completing it, and then feeling like I could conquer anything in the world I damn well pleased with the right amount of effort, determination, and pacing. It’s now how I view life, and I’m addicted.
So here I am, wanting craving another challenge, feeling a bit overwhelmed, but ready to kick some ass, be in the best shape of my life, be inspired by people who are fighting the good fight, and raise some money so that cancer doesn’t have to exist anymore.
If you’re interested, let me know. I would love to share this experience, as I know it’s going to be an amazing one.
*And now that I’m all but signed up, I need to learn how to swim, and get a bike.
